The 735-foot "roll on, roll off" vehicle carrier El Faro hails from Puerto Rico. The vessel was en route from Jacksonville, Fla., to San Juan when it issued an emergency satellite communication.

The sky is overcast on south Eleuthera island, Bahamas, early Friday, as Hurricane Joaquin dumps torrential rain across the eastern and central Bahamas as a Category 4 storm.

The Category 4 hurricane is virtually stalled at the moment over the Bahamas, but the storm forecast tracks have it staying well offshore as it moves north.
