WFDD Upcoming Events
Celebrating 15 years of WFDD's BackPack Campaign @ Radar Brewing on November 28th 5-8pm (Giving Tuesday)
Come enjoy time with your community at Radar Brewing after a whirl wind weekend of family and travel. We'll have the Sur Chilean food truck, games, giveaways and trivia starts at 7pm! This is an opportunity to meet WFDD staff. Don't be shy...we encourage you to engage in conversation with us. We love hearing your stories, driveway moments and news tips.
When you make a gift in any amount to support WFDD during our celebration at Radar Brewing, our partner Kaplan Early Learning Company will donate a backpack full of nutritious, kid-friendly food to Second Harvest Food Bank's BackPack Program. We hope to donate 200 backpacks from this event alone. Come celebrate with us!

A Community Conversation on Health Equity with Mustard Seed Community Health
October 24th, 7:15 PM
Life expectancy is more than 10 years shorter in east Greensboro than west Greensboro. How can we work together as a community to close this gap?
Join WFDD's Bethany Chafin and a panel of experts as they discuss issues of health equity with Mustard Seed Community Health. This event is free and will take place in the Barber Park Event Center.

Look Up and Listen: an evening of stories, stars, and s'mores!
Guests came with a blanket or chair to set up by the fire. We spent the evening listening to a special program from Snap Judgement: Spooked while snacking on some s’mores and gazing at the stars. The event took place by the lake at Hanging Rock State Park with our friends from the park and The Forsyth Astronomical Society. Once the fires died out, we hosted an after-party at Green Heron Ale House! Thank you to all who joined us.

Artist Talk with John Rosenthal

WFDD's David Ford moderated an Artist Talk with photographer John Rosenthal at GreenHill Center for NC Art in Greensboro. Finding the luminous in ordinary things has been a pursuit for Rosenthal for five decades, and his current exhibition "Living in the Ordinary World" is a culmination of decades of work.

Summer Bar Meetups
We loved meeting our listeners for a pint this summer in Greensboro, Boone, and Winston-Salem! Everyone who participated received our special "Radio for thirsty minds" pint glasses, filled with their choice of beverage from the bar. We hope you join us next year!

Listener Expeditions
Explore special and unique locales in our region, guided by expert presenters. Learn something new about the community you call home and maybe make some new friends while you’re at it. Past expeditions have gone on a walking tour of the Hidden Towns Project of Old Salem, visited the Underground Railroad Tree in Greensboro, and explored Vade Mecum Resort in Hanging Rock National Park; learn more here!

Photo of the Year
At the end of every year, we take all of our Photo of the Week winners' photographs and have our community vote for their favorite photos! Thank you to everyone who joined us for our 2022 Photo of the Year reveal. Over 1500 listeners voted and we’re so excited to announce our 2022 Photo of the Year winner, Kevin DeShields! View our Photo of the year and runners-up in our 2022 Photo of the Year gallery, and you can view our 2021 Photo of the Year gallery here.

WFDD's first Poetry Challenge
In April 2022, WFDD issued a poetry challenge to our listeners for National Poetry Month: participants were emailed bi-weekly with poems and prompts to inspire their own writing and were invited to share their poetry with our community! Our inaugural poetry collection is available to read on our site.
