Presidential election campaigning revs back up Tuesday, with Donald Trump heading to Michigan and Vice President Kamala Harris answering questions at a forum for Black journalists in Pennsylvania — even as authorities continue to investigate a second apparent assassination attempt against Trump that's roiled the race.
Former President Donald Trump was targeted in what the FBI is calling an assassination attempt on Sunday. The suspect is 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh, a longtime Triad resident. Routh has faced various criminal charges, including a 2002 charge of possessing a “weapon of mass destruction.”
The man accused of attempting to assassinate Donald Trump at a Florida golf course Sunday wrote a book last year urging Iran to kill him. Ryan Wesley Routh was identified as the suspect by three people familiar with the case who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.
