This weekend, some big-name North Carolina artists are putting on live streaming concerts to benefit musicians affected by COVID-19.

With venues closed for the foreseeable future, musicians who depend financially on playing live are taking a hit. Some music-makers are turning to online streaming concerts to fill in the gap.

“Under One Roof” is a streaming concert series organized by Charlotte-based publication CLTure and the North Carolina Arts Council.

The live benefit concert will feature a diverse group of North Carolina artists, including Anthony Hamilton, Ben Folds, 9th Wonder, Steep Canyon Rangers, Fantasia, and more, in support of COVID-19 relief for local musicians and artist communities.

Cameron Lee is the founder of CLTure and co-organized the event.

“I think a lot of people in the entertainment or music industry probably thought that at some point virtual concerts would be a thing," says Lee. "It's just there was no necessity for it, right? So now, I think people are just naturally tuning in to stuff that they like.”

The live-streamed concert will take place across three nights Friday, April 24 through Sunday, April 26, on Facebook Live and Twitch. You can find more information on the event's Facebook page.
