This weekend, communities across the country are celebrating Memorial Day and remembering those who died while serving in the armed forces. These are some of the events being held in the Triad.

Beginning Saturday and continuing through Monday, Uncle Sam's Memorial Day Tribute will take place at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

It includes a display featuring the NC Moving Wall, which honors the more than 1,600 North Carolinians who died in the Vietnam War. There will also be photos and information about each veteran listed, and pictures of war memorial monuments found across the state.

Yadkin County Park will hold a service on Monday at 11 a.m. It will include a reading of the names of the county's citizens who were killed in military action, as well as a presentation to veterans.

And High Point hosts its 15th annual Memorial Day Service on Monday at 10 a.m. at the High Point Veteran's Memorial, featuring the Salvation Army Brass Band and Randolph County Honor Guard.

All events are free and open to the public.
