Philip Gulley is a Quaker pastor and author of 18 books.  His most recent book is Living the Quaker Way: Timeless Wisdom for a Better Life Today.  Gulley will visit the First Friends Meeting in Greensboro this weekend for  Quaker Quest, a two day series of sessions and storytelling on the Quaker Way.

This weekend, Gulley will talk about the five values or testimonies of the Quakers - Simplicity, Peace, Integrity, Community, and Equality. Gulley says these values have been drawing individuals, including many in their 20s and 30s, to Friends Meetings. While these values unite Quakers, Gulley says that Meetings are often composed of diverse individuals.

Philip Gulley lives in Danville, Indiana, and says that his area has connections to the Quaker communities of North Carolina.  These connections go back to the 1820s and the Great Quaker Migration when large groups of Quakers moved to the north and west for both the farmland and to escape the slave economy of the south.
