The North Carolina Dance Festival celebrates its 25th anniversary this season, honoring the late Jan Van Dyke and past artists, but also bringing forward new artists, dancers, choreographers, and filmmakers from across our state.

Dance Project co-director Anne Morris says this year four filmmaker choreographers will remagine Jan Van Dyke's 25-year-old dance, "The Life and Times," and screen their original new work during the festival. Jan Van Dyke Dance Group founding member Kelly Swindell and guest artist E.E. Balcos will perform Jan's dance "Lament," a mysterious, introspective work set to music by Tangerine Dream. It is one that Kelly has performed for decades. David Ford spoke with Dance Project co-director Anne Morris and Jan Van Dyke Dance Group member Kelly Swindell. The North Carolina Dance Festival at the UNC-Greensboro Dance Theatre, where the festival began 25 seasons ago is Friday, November 13th and Saturday the 14th.
