Musikgarten is an international, early childhood music and movement program founded in Greensboro. It nurtures the musical aptitude of children from infants through elementary school age in a sequential curriculum.

Fall enrollment at the UNCSA Community Music School”s “Twist and Turn” for babies and toddlers is now open. Their free open house is August 15th from 9-3 at the Stevens Center in Winston-Salem. Parents and their children can observe Musikgarten classes with today's guest Brenda Morie, enjoy the string, woodwind and brass rooms, and register on line for the Instrument Petting Zoo.

Musikgarten instructor, professional flutist and singer Brenda Morie was drawn to the program after witnessing its impact developing musicianship skills in young people. She's recently returned to the Triad after years abroad performing and teaching in Hong Kong. Brenda says students at the UNCSA Community Music School in Winston-Salem where she currently teaches learn singing, rhythmic melodic patterning, fine and gross motor movement, focused listening, playing instruments and much more. In today's show, we've been sampling from Brenda Morie's CD Meant to Be. Tomorrow night beginning at 5:30pm, you can her live at The O Henry Hotel in Greensboro with pianist Dave Fox and saxophonist Neill Clegg Jr
