The Lexington Housing Authority is suing its former executive director, Terrance Gerald. The lawsuit accuses him of fraud and unfair and deceptive trade practices, among other violations.

The Dispatch newspaper of Lexington reports that the allegations date to a time when Gerald ran the authority while also serving as an officer of Haven Redevelopment Group.

Haven is a nonprofit created through a federal program to take over management of the local public housing units formerly managed by the authority.

Haven's web site lists Gerald as its CEO.

The authority's board replaced Gerald in 2016 amid questions about the authority's handling of more than $2 million in a rental assistance program fund.

The authority is now working to pay the money back to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Gerald did not return a call from WFDD seeking comment.
