The city of Greensboro is launching a five-year community safety plan to reduce violence.
Greensboro has seen 15 homicides as of early June, which is slightly fewer than the number at this point in 2024.
To keep improving these numbers, the city is launching a comprehensive plan focused on violence prevention and interruption. The initiative outlines several objectives.
Among them is the creation of a citywide interdisciplinary coalition by October. It will meet at least once a month to address public safety issues.
Establishing programs to help unsheltered homeless individuals, and expanding street outreach and violence interruption projects are some of the other goals.
