Boone will have a new look to its town government following this week's municipal election.

It was already clear Boone would get a new mayor when Rennie Brantz announced he would not seek reelection. He had served in the town government since the early 2000s.

Brantz's decision to not campaign for a third term left Tim Futrelle as the only candidate for mayor on the ballot Tuesday. Futrelle previously served on the Watauga County Board of Commissioners.

There will also be three new town council members. Incumbents Virginia Roseman and Jon Dalton George were reelected. They'll be joined by Todd Carter, the top vote-getter in the race.

Also joining the board are two women who were elected to fill two unexpired seats on the council. Edie Tugman and Rebecca Nenow finished first and second respectively in the four-person race.

All results are complete but unofficial.
