As the need for medical workers increases, North Carolina's Department Of Health and Human Services is stepping in to help match potential employees with health care facilities.

DHHS officials say that many health care outlets, particularly long-term care facilities, are facing staffing shortages.

A department news release says there is an urgent need for Registered Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants to supplement other workers and in some cases fill in for staffers affected by COVID-19.

DHHS is now partnering with the East Carolina University School of Nursing to place health care workers in temporary, part-time, or full-time roles.

Interested health care workers with the ability to pick up extra shifts or who may have been laid off can register for potential employment.

A volunteer team at ECU will match individuals with facilities in their area needing staff.

RN's and LPN's with out-of-state- licenses or students eligible for graduation are also able to work under certain circumstances.
