A rush of legislation has been signed by the Governor.  Lawmakers are attempting to clear their calendars ahead of planned budget negotiations.

McCrory announced Thursday that he had signed 27 bills. That includes two hotly debated measures regarding gun rules and the state's death penalty process.

Death penalty opponents had fought against allowing the state to expedite changing which drugs can be used in lethal injections without much public review.

The gun bill was passed with bipartisan support after Republican amendments were defeated.

Still unresolved is the two-year state budget, which is more than five weeks overdue. A temporary spending plan set to expire late next week will probably need to be extended to allow for more budget negotiations.
