The founder and CEO of a North Carolina clinical research organization was among those killed in a crash of a small, private jet in Maryland.  The plane's flight originated in Chapel Hill.

Health Decisions of Durham, North Carolina, said in a news release that Dr. Michael Rosenberg was among those killed in Monday morning's crash near Montgomery County Airpark in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Television station WTTG reports that Rosenberg was piloting the plane with two passengers onboard when it crashed into a home. The passengers along with three people in the home were also killed.

The organization says Rosenberg founded Health Decisions in 1989. According to its website, Health Decisions provides services for clinical trials.

The cause of the crash has not been determined, but a black box has been recovered, which will be examined by the National Transportation Safety Board.

Rosenberg was an active pilot who survived a previous crash in Gaithersburg in 2010.
