The smell of the grass, the chant of fans and the crack of the bat. It's time to play ball.

The 2014 season for Major League Baseball is in full swing. Richard Groves says the game is in his blood. His favorite team is the Boston Red Sox. In high school, Groves was a center fielder and describes himself as a solid player.

But during one game, he did the unimaginable. Groves explains his adventure on WFDD's Real People, Real Stories.

Groves is a retired minister and teaches in the department of Religion and Philosophy at High Point University.
