Yadkin County is moving closer to regaining a hospital.  The Board of Commissioners announced Tuesday that two consulting firms have been hired to help them make the best health choices for the county.

The county has signed a contract with Spectrum Health Partners from Tennessee which will look at a number of financial models for Yadkin County's healthcare.  They're also working with Criterion Healthcare from Concord to review the current facility and talk with the community about the entire process.

The county has been without a hospital since May.  CAH Acquisition had a lease to run Yadkin Hospital through July, but abruptly shut it down three months ago.

The move eliminated 150 full and part-time jobs and forced physicians out of their hospital offices. Patients have been forced to find treatment at other health care facilities.
