Guilford County residents will consider two ballot proposals during the May primary.

The County Board of Commissioners is putting forth a $1.7 billion school bond referendum, with the funding going toward improving and expanding school facilities.

According to the county website, the bond will allow for the implementation of a master facilities plan that includes building three new schools, rebuilding or renovating existing sites, and investing in safety and technology upgrades. A portion of the funding would be directed toward major repairs to roofs, HVAC systems, and plumbing.

Voters will also be asked to approve a quarter-cent sales and use tax to help offset the master plan costs.

Both proposals will be on Guilford County voter's ballots during the statewide primary on May 17. The deadline for voter registration is April 22.
