Cone Health Medical Records Now Available Through Apple App

Cone Health patients have a new way to access their medical data.

Previously, patients could find their medical records through Cone's online patient portal, called MyChart.

Now they can also access them through Apple's Health Records app, which compiles data and information from multiple providers.

The app uses encryption to ensure patient confidentiality and transfers the records using a technology called Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources, or FHIR.

Records can include anything from immunizations to lab results to allergies.

Cone Chief medical information officer Valerie Leschber says this is convenient for both patients and providers.

“The patient who may experience episodes of care at various institutions will be able to have those records in one place on their own device,” she says.

Other hospital systems supporting the app include Mission Health, Duke Health, and UNC Health Care.
