  • Adam Bennett got his start at WFDD as a volunteer in the Spring of 2017 and came on board as a staff member shortly thereafter.A native of Nebraska, Adam earned a Social Science Education degree from the University of Nebraska at Kearney before relocating to North Carolina in 2009.He's spent time as the voice you hear during midday breaks on weekdays, as well as hosting on Sunday afternoons and evenings. Adam also creates many of the announcements and testimonials that you hear every day on WFDD.In August of 2020, Adam took on the dual role of Listener and Donor Services Coordinator/Production Manager. In addition to continuing his production duties, he handles many of the day-to-day financial transactions and works with listeners to answer questions and concerns that may arise.Adam has been a supporter of public radio for many years because he admires the sense of community it fosters and he believes that strong journalism is essential in keeping the public informed and educated.
  • Amy Diaz began covering education in North Carolina’s Piedmont region and High Country for WFDD in partnership with Report For America in 2022. Before entering the world of public radio, she worked as a local government reporter in Flint, Mich. where she was named the 2021 Rookie Writer of the Year by the Michigan Press Association. Diaz is originally from Florida, where she interned at the Sarasota Herald-Tribune and freelanced for the Tampa Bay Times. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of South Florida, but truly got her start in the field in elementary school writing scripts for the morning news.   • Keri Brown is a multi-award winning reporter and host at 88.5 WFDD. She has been honored with two regional Edward R. Murrow awards for her stories about coal ash, and was named the 2015 radio reporter of the year by the Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas (RTDNAC).Although she covers a variety of topics, her beats are environmental and education reporting.Keri comes to the Triad from West Virginia Public Broadcasting, where she served as the Chief Bureau Reporter for the Northern Panhandle. She produced stories for the state's Public Television and Radio programs and was honored by the West Virginia Associated Press Broadcasters Association for her feature and enterprise reporting.She also served as an adjunct instructor at Wheeling Jesuit University and Bethany College in West Virginia. She worked with the Center for Educational Technologies in Wheeling, WV, and other NASA centers across the country to develop several stories about the use of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) concepts in the classroom.Keri's journalism career began at WTRF-TV 7 in Wheeling. She worked in several roles at the station, including the head assignment editor. She also was a field producer and assignment manager at WPGH-TV Fox 53 in Pittsburgh.Keri is a graduate of Ohio University. When she's not in the studio or working on a story, she enjoys watching college football with her family, cooking, and traveling.Keri is always looking for another great story idea, so please share them with her.   • To Lauren, nothing feels more like home than public radio. The child of two Navy captains, she moved frequently all over the country. Public radio was a rare consistency in her childhood, connecting her to her community and the world. Now a twelve-year resident of Greensboro, she is delighted to be chairing the WFDD Community Advisory Board. Lauren has over a decade of experience in communications and strategic planning with Lincoln Financial Group. Currently Lauren is an active community volunteer and activist, and a proud mother and step-mother. Term expires December 31, 2020
  • Sean Bueter joined WFDD in August 2015 as a reporter covering issues across the Piedmont Triad and beyond.Previously, Sean was a reporter, host and news director at WBOI in Fort Wayne, Ind., just a few hours from where he grew up. He also sorted Steve Inskeep's mail as an intern at NPR in Washington, D.C.Sean has experience on a variety of beats, including race, wealth and poverty, economic development, and more. His work has appeared on NPR's Morning Edition and All Things Considered, and APM's Marketplace.In his spare time, Sean plays tennis (reasonably well), golf (reasonably poorly), and scours local haunts for pinball machines to conquer.
  • Kami Chavis is a Professor of Law and Director of the Criminal Justice Program at Wake Forest University School of Law. In 2015, she was appointed as a Senior Academic Fellow at the Joint Center for Political And Economic Studies. She has substantial practice experience and writes and teaches in areas related to criminal law, criminal procedure and criminal justice reform. After receiving her J.D. from Harvard Law School, she worked as an associate at private law firms in Washington, D.C., where she participated in various aspects of civil litigation, white-collar criminal defense, and internal investigations. In 2003, she became an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia, involving her in a wide range of criminal prosecutions and in arguing and briefing appeals before the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. Professor Chavis frequently makes presentations on law-enforcement issues and is a leader in the field of police accountability. Her articles have appeared in the American Criminal Law Review, the Ohio State Journal of Criminal Law, The Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology, the University of Alabama Law Review, the Catholic University Law Review, and other legal journals. Her research focuses on using Cooperative Federalism principles and stakeholder participation to implement sustainable reforms in the criminal justice system. She writes in the areas of police and prosecutorial accountability, federal hate crimes legislation and enforcement, and racial profiling. She was elected to the American Law Institute in 2012.She is a frequent contributor to national and international media outlets and has appeared on CNN, CTV, and NPR. She has written for the New York Times and the Huffington Post, and has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, BBC News, U.S. News and World Report, International Business Times, Deutsche Welle, and other outlets regarding police accountability and the structural reform of law enforcement agencies.
  • Alexis Gines-Hoyes is from Greensboro and earned her B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While reporting for a local newspaper and volunteering as a tutor for a local library, Alexis discovered a love for teaching. She earned her teacher certification at Greensboro College, and now thoroughly enjoys teaching English to high school students. She has had the opportunity to teach English Literature in India, attend a summer education program in England, and experience a professional development immersion experience in Costa Rica. She is proud of the opportunity her students have had to work with WFDD Radio 101 program. Alexis currently teaches Multicultural Literature, English III and Advanced Placement English Language and Composition. She is currently pursuing her M.A. in English with a concentration in Multicultural and Transnational Literature at East Carolina University. Her hobbies include traveling, reading, outdoor activities, creative writing, and starting conversations with “Did you hear on NPR…”.Term expires December 31, 2023.
