April Laissle
April Laissle is a senior reporter and editor at WFDD. Her work has been featured on several national news programs and recognized by the Public Media Journalists Association and the Radio Television Digital News Association. Before joining WFDD in 2019, she worked at public radio stations in Ohio and California.
Bethany Chafin
Bethany Chafin
Bethany is WFDD's editorial director. She joined the staff in the fall of 2012. She received her B.A. and M.A. in English Literature from Wake Forest University. Between undergraduate studies and graduate school, Bethany served as the intern to Talk of the Nation at NPR in D.C., participating in live NPR Election Night Coverage, Presidential debate broadcasts, regular Talk of the Nation shows, and helping to plan the inaugural broadcast of ‘Talk of the World.' She enjoys engaging with her interests in books, politics, and art in the interdisciplinary world of public radio. Before becoming editorial director, Bethany was assistant news Director, a reporter and associate producer for WFDD's Triad Arts and Triad Arts Weekend. Originally from Jacksonville, Florida, Bethany enjoys calling the Piedmont home.

Ulli Becker
Ulli Becker
Ulli Becker hails originally from Germany but has by now spent more than half her life in the US. Growing up in Europe, Ulli was interested in news from an early age which started her life-long habit of listening to news radio.Ulli holds a Masters-type degree in Chemical Engineering from Germany and a Ph.D. in Wood Science and Forest products. She considers herself a scientist through and through and applies scientific critical thinking to everything she does.Since moving to Greensboro, Ulli has been an ardent fan of WFDD. Working from home, she usually listens to WFDD all day.Most of her knowledge about Greensboro has come through listening to WFDD and she is looking forward to helping fellow citizens of the Triad keep learning about their home region. Term expires December 31, 2022.
