Elon University has suspended one of its fraternities for hazing. The school announced over the weekend that it suspended Sigma Pi fraternity late last month.

The University will not give any details of the alleged hazing incident, but states that it has a zero tolerance policy on hazing.

The university's student-run TV news station said that three male students reported to university police that they suffered minor injuries while being forced to 'plank on bottle caps'. In this activity, pledges do push-ups with bottle caps placed under their hands.

The suspension means that the fraternity cannot hold activities or meetings and can't take part in intramural sports.

Elon said the suspension will last until 2017. The fraternity has appealed.
