Forsyth County jail officials will not be facing criminal wrongdoing charges in the case of an inmate who died in custody.

39-year-old Deshawn Lamont Coley died at the Forsyth County jail last May. His death led to scrutiny about Correct Care Solutions, the jail's medical provider.

District Attorney Jim O'Neill says he finds no criminal actions in the death of Coley. Additionally, Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Brad Stanley says an internal investigation clears jail staff of any wrongdoing.

Autopsy reports show that Coley died from asthma complications. At the time of his death, he was less than two weeks into a six-month sentence for driving while impaired.

According to The Winston-Salem Journal, Coley's wife Daniela Etienne says the medical staff did not properly administer medicine or employ the use of an asthma pump as needed.

Correct Care Solutions has been sued over inmate deaths before, and still has lawsuits pending.
