As authorities continue to investigate a shooting that occurred on the campus of Wake Forest University over the weekend, questions surrounding the incident linger. Winston-Salem State University student Najee Ali Baker was the victim of a gunshot wound and died from his injuries.

Not many details of what happened or the investigation are known. Captain Steve Tollie with the Winston-Salem Police Department says they're still conducting interviews with witnesses, and have a large team in the field investigating. No suspect has yet been named.

There are also no answers as to why it took nearly an hour between the time police were notified and an alert was sent out by Wake Forest University letting the campus know that an armed person was reported. The police responded to a call at 1:01 a.m. Saturday. The Wake Forest alert came at 1:57 a.m.

Campus officials have not yet offered an explanation for the time lag, but say they're investigating.

"We are still looking into the timing and we remain committed to continually evaluating our emergency response procedures," says Katie Neal, executive director of news and information at Wake Forest University.

A vigil is scheduled to honor Baker later this week. The Student Government Association at Winston-Salem State University will hold the event from 5 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the campus Clock Tower.
