Triad To Do: "Love You Madly," Visual Acoustics, And French Toast

David is excited about the Piedmont Triad Jazz Orchestra's "Love You Madly" performance on Febraury 12th at the Carolina Theatre. The Piedmont Triad Jazz Orchestra (PTJO) is a group of professional musicians dedicated to upholding the tradition of the finest big band composers and arrangers (Ellington, Basie, Gillespie, etc) while promoting the performance of new arrangements and compositions by its members. It is a truly cross-generational ensemble, comprised of some of North Carolina's finest and most respected jazz educators, music professionals, and up-and-coming young artists. Its musicians are alums of the big bands of Wynton Marsalis, Harry Connick, Jr., Toshiko Akiyoshi, Christian McBride, the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra, plus many more, and as arrangers/composers, its members have created well over 100 works for big band, many of which will make up the band's unique repertory.

Eddie discusses the Visual Acoustics, Modern Architecture Series at a/perture cinema, sponsored by Stitch Design Shop. On Thursday, February 18th at 5:30pm you can check out a documentary narrated by Dustin Hoffman on the life and career of Julius Shulman, the world's greatest architectural photographer, whose images brought modern architecture to the American mainstream.

Bethany's choice this week adds some French flair to your Valentine's Day weekend. On Saturday, February 13th, the Greensboro Farmers Curb Market is hosting a "Love Your Local French Toast Brunch." Listen to some gypsy jazz, have your likeness drawn by a caricature artist, and enjoy French Toast made by local chefs. The event is 8:00 - 11:30am.
