Triad To Do: Honky, Table Tennis, And Artistic Billboards

Eddie shares that the Community Innovation Lab of Winston-Salem presents Intersections and Conversations: Race, Class and Power. Its a screening and discussion of the film Honky, a provocative satire about racism in contemporary America.

David Ford says that even though the "art" of ping pong is probably a stretch, he's breaking all the rules so you don't miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity. He says the speed, spins and athleticism involved in table tennis is truly awesome. Tickets for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Table Tennis Trials went on-sale back in November. The event will take place at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex's Special Events Center from February 4-6, 2016.

Bethany mentions that the Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County is issuing a call for art for its new art in unexpected places project, ArtPop.  “Artist + Public Outdoor Project = ArtPop” promotes local artists' original works through the use of donated outdoor advertising space.   Works by five artists who reside in Forsyth, Stokes, Davidson, Surry, Davie, or Yadkin counties will be chosen for the first year of the program.

Artists working in all media are encouraged to submit photographs of original works of art for consideration. Artists must be at least 18 years old and are required to submit a photograph and description of the work, an artist statement, and a biography. All submission materials must be digital and submitted to smorris@intothearts.org by February 29.
