The Triad's only comprehensive provider of autism services is getting ready to expand. ABC of NC will soon break ground on a new 26,000-square foot Autism Clinic in Winston-Salem.

Officials say the expansion will enable the non-profit organization to better provide services and cut down on wait times for families needing a diagnosis for their children.

The Winston-Salem Journal reports the project is expected to cost $6.5 million. A capital campaign has so far raised over $4 million.

ABC of NC serves 350 children and their families, mostly from around the Triad.

The organization hopes to double that in their new facility. They also plan to nearly increase the staff from 50 employees to about 100.
