Shontell Robinson named new Forsyth County manager

The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners has named a new county manager. Following a nationwide search, Deputy County Manager Shontell Robinson will be promoted and step into the role beginning July of this year following the retirement of Dudley Watts.

Robinson brings more than 20 years of human resources experience to the position and has held numerous jobs in county government including director of human resources, assistant county manager, and director of the county’s Department of Health and Human Services.

In a press release, Robinson stated, “This is an opportunity that I do not take lightly, and I will work tirelessly to serve the residents and employees of Forsyth County.”

Outgoing Manager Dudley Watts praised Robinson for her leadership, particularly during the pandemic.

Robinson will be the first woman and first African American to serve as Forsyth County manager.
