Authorities are continuing the search for the primary suspect in the shooting death of Winston-Salem State University student Najee Ali Baker. The suspect's whereabouts are still unknown.

The murder warrant for 21-year-old Jakier Shanique Austin, a former student at Winston Salem State University, was issued in late January. He's accused of shooting Baker at a party on the campus of Wake Forest University earlier this year.

Winston-Salem police say that locating Austin is in the hands of the U.S. Marshals Service. Apprehending wanted fugitives is one of the primary services the organization provides.

16-year-old Malik Patience Smith was arrested and charged in connection with the shooting death of the WSSU student. His bond was set at $100,000.

Homicides are adding up at an accelerated pace in Winston-Salem this year. So far, there have been seven in 2018, whereas for the same timeframe last year there was only one.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting or the location of Jakier Shanique Austin is encouraged to contact local police by calling Crime Stoppers.
