News & Record Will Move Printing Operations To Winston-Salem

The Greensboro News & Record is moving some of its operations to Winston-Salem.

According to the newspaper, they will be moving into the Winston-Salem Journal's downtown production facility, where they'll invest in a second printing press. Publisher Daniel Finnegan says the relocation will allow the paper to improve print quality and color capacity. The new press will also increase page count by 33 percent.

It is not yet known how many of the paper's 100 current production jobs will be affected. The paper says that a “significant” number of Greensboro employees will transfer to the Winston-Salem facility. It is also unclear what will happen to the paper's current building and property in downtown Greensboro.

Work on the move will begin soon and is expected to be completed by this fall.
