Greensboro has launched a website that allows individuals to learn more about a housing initiative to add 10,000 new homes by 2030.
The new website provides data points to track the progress of housing units being added. It comes just a few months after Greensboro City Manager Trey Davis first announced his 'Road to 10,000' plan.
A recent National Association of Realtors study found Greensboro among the cities facing a shortage of affordable homes. But some residents and officials voiced worries that the plan is more beneficial to developers and doesn't address neighbors' concerns.
Davis said at a City Council meeting earlier this month that the goal is to identify and guide where homes are being built.
"This is about Greensboro as a community and making sure that as we grow, we grow right because if we don't do anything, then the growth is going to happen to us," he said.
Residents can share feedback through the new website. According to its dashboard, 266 new construction permits have been issued since March.
