An aerospace company based in the U.K. is making Greensboro the home of its new aircraft maintenance and engineering facility. Marshall Aerospace made the announcement Tuesday. The move is expected to create 240 jobs and an investment of $50 million.

The company works on civil and military aircraft platforms providing engineering, support solutions, and services.

"North Carolina’s reputation for excellence in aerospace and military support continues to grow all around the world,” said Governor Cooper in a statement. “Thanks to our state’s specialized workforce, companies like Marshall Aerospace that support the vital mission of our servicemembers in uniform continue to choose North Carolina as the perfect place to do business.”

The new facility, located at the Piedmont Triad International Airport Mega Site, will be Marshall Aerospace’s U.S. base of operations and focus on a fleet of Hercules C-130 aircraft.

According to a press release from the governor's office, the wages will vary depending on the positions. The project is supported by state tax incentives, provided the company meets job creation and investment targets. It is expected to grow the state economy by $1.9 billion.

“The addition of Marshall Aerospace will make an enormous impact on our workforce,” said Greensboro Mayor Nancy Vaughan. “The City welcomes this multimillion-dollar investment, which reinforces our placement as North Carolina’s aerospace capital.”
