The Guilford County Division of Public Health is now offering flu and COVID vaccines and advising people to take precautions with fall underway.

Residents can schedule vaccination appointments at the Division of Public Health's High Point and Greensboro locations. Nursing Supervisor for Immunization Avis Carter-Harris says this will help to protect people through the flu season.

"People are starting to spend more time in groups, gathering together, and this is one of the ways that these illnesses are spread," she says.

Carter-Harris says demand has been moderate so far, with the majority of appointments being adults. But in past years scheduling picks up as the season continues.

Guilford County residents can schedule appointments by calling the Division of Public Health. Carter-Harris says the uninsured and underinsured can go to their local health department or federally qualified health centers to receive the COVID vaccine at no cost.

Appointments are available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The county is also taking walk-ins.
