A group of Latino organizations is kicking off the holiday season by organizing a free fair for Greensboro’s community. The Posada Navideña is celebratory but it will also serve as an informational event on education, mental health, and food resources available for people in the Latino community.

Amanda Huber Lopera, founder of the mental health clinic Sunrise-Amanecer, says the whole point is to finally connect and inform in person.

"As you know, it's hard to be trusting of organizations in the Latinx community," explains Lopera. "So being able to provide a space for you to actually speak face to face with someone, and have a representative who speaks your language — it is just a gift that we want to be able to offer."

For entities like Sunrise-Amanecer, which began right before the pandemic, this will be their first community event. Lopera says all the organizers are looking forward to it.
