In December of last year, Jamison Mobile Home Park residents received a letter from property owner Lynn Anderson stating that they now had until March 2022 to vacate the properties. According to Siembra NC, an organization that advocates for the wellbeing of Latino communities, Greensboro Mayor Nancy Vaughan announced weeks later that residents now have until mid-June to work out a plan.

Although the extension has provided the residents with three more months, they still feel uncertain. Nikki Marín Baena, creative director of Siembra NC, says the families are currently in conversation with city officials and property financing organizations.

“Until June 19 when this property closes, our favorite option — the resident's favorite option — is still to be able to buy this mobile home park and stay in their home,” says Baena.

Baena says that the residents are trying to be realistic about what their options are. In October, three of the families found a different place to live, but the expenses were costly, and Baena says this isn't something that all the residents can afford.
