A new Amazon delivery center has opened in the Triad.

Amazon says the 66,000-square-foot delivery station is up and running with hundreds of part- and full-time workers in place.

The Winston-Salem Journal reports the facility carries a Colfax address but sits within High Point city limits. An initial ten-year-lease has been amended to include a number of five-year-lease extensions.

Salaries for those working at the center are at least $15 an hour, but related delivery positions can pay as much as $25 an hour.

A company spokeswoman says the delivery station is not directly connected to the Amazon Prime Now one-day delivery program but “does help with delivering products as soon as possible.”

Meanwhile, an Amazon fulfillment center in Kernersville is nearing construction completion and is expected to open sometime next year.
