ALE sweep leads to drug, alcohol charges across NC

WFDD FILE

State Alcohol Law Enforcement agents charged more than 250 people with various crimes during a sweep last week that included unnamed Triad locations.

The arrests were made Friday night, weeks after ALE agents conducted educational programs for Alcohol Beverage Control license holders.

Fourteen permitted businesses were found to be in violation of state laws and regulations.

Agents also executed nine search warrants resulting in the seizure of drugs including fentanyl, crack cocaine, and methamphetamines. Six firearms were also seized including an AR-15 rifle that the agency says was in the possession of a person convicted of a felony.

Almost 600 charges were filed, most of which were misdemeanors.

Local agencies involved in the operation included the Greensboro Police, Wilkes County Sheriff's Office, and the Boone Police Department.
