Old southern music is new and hot for an upcoming generation of highly trained string players and singers.  On this week's Across the Blue Ridge, we hear some adventurous approaches to ancient West Virginia and Alabama tunes, as Ethan Jodziewicz and Tatiana Hargreaves dig into pieces including Piney Woods and Farewell Trion. Ethan talks with host Paul Brown about his approach to melody and rhythm on the bass fiddle as he and fiddler Tatiana weave the two instruments' sounds together. We'll also hear traditional renditions of the tunes they play, plus a great selection of music from artists including Flatt & Scruggs; Ginny Hawker; The Delmore Brothers; James Bryan; Tim Smith; Dock Boggs, and more.
