Our summer listening sessions continue this week with a fine selection of new recordings.  Hear a Canadian band that bridges the gaps between old-time and bluegrass; a youthful old-time band with roots in the U.S. and Norway; a track from the latest album from country band Western Centuries, and gospel music from a young Texas couple, Lloyd and April Wright.  It all ties back to the mountain south in style and sound, as these musicians put their imprint on durable old tunes and create new songs and melodies for the present day.  Plus … an appreciation of the late Bill Dillof, whose fascination with the oldest country music recordings helped drive his departure from a career as an attorney and led to an increasing focus on collecting, researching and performing wonderful old acoustic repertoire.
