In the summer and fall, our Bar Meetups bring listeners together for a laid-back evening pint — and with a donation in any amount, your first drink is on us and you’ll snag a collectible WFDD pint glass to take home.

When the weather cools down, we shift into Morning Meetup mode: make a gift of $180 (or $15/month) and you can claim one of our limited-edition 80th anniversary coffee mugs plus a free drip coffee or hot tea. This year, we’re excited to partner with Rhyme & Reason Chocolate Company of Greensboro, who have created custom WFDD chocolate bonbons as a special thank-you for donors who give $60 at a Morning Meetup or make a $240 online gift. Online donors at this level will receive both the bonbons and our limited-edition 80th anniversary mug. With a gift in any amount you'll still receive that cozy cup on the house. April Laissle is a senior reporter and editor at WFDD. Her work has been featured on several national news programs and recognized by the Public Media Journalists Association and the Radio Television Digital News Association. Before joining WFDD in 2019, she worked at public radio stations in Ohio and California.

Bethany is WFDD's editorial director. She joined the staff in the fall of 2012. She received her B.A. and M.A. in English Literature from Wake Forest University. Between undergraduate studies and graduate school, Bethany served as the intern to Talk of the Nation at NPR in D.C., participating in live NPR Election Night Coverage, Presidential debate broadcasts, regular Talk of the Nation shows, and helping to plan the inaugural broadcast of ‘Talk of the World.' She enjoys engaging with her interests in books, politics, and art in the interdisciplinary world of public radio. Before becoming editorial director, Bethany was assistant news Director, a reporter and associate producer for WFDD's Triad Arts and Triad Arts Weekend. Originally from Jacksonville, Florida, Bethany enjoys calling the Piedmont home.
