Greensboro Chief Deputy City Attorney Tony Baker has resigned after five years with the city, according to Strategic & Crisis Communications Manager Eric Chilton.

Baker is the second member of the city’s legal department to leave abruptly this summer. City Attorney Chuck Watts resigned without notice in early July, amid questions about his outside work for a military equipment company.

Shortly after Watts’ departure, the Guilford County district attorney announced she would not pursue a full state investigation into his actions.

A separate state review into an unnamed member of Greensboro’s City Council is still underway.
