The Glenn McNairy Library in Greensboro is one of the branches that will now be closed on Sundays.

The Greensboro Public Library is changing its hours of service due to the city's budgetary constraints.

The move follows the City Council's passage of an $831 million budget in June. To avoid increasing taxes, officials approved reducing hours at libraries and recreation centers, among other things.

The Greensboro Public Library will now be open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The Benjamin, Glenwood, McGirt-Horton, and Glenn McNairy branches of the library are now closed on Sundays.

According to a news release, the closings were based on door counts, circulation numbers, and the overall geographic coverage for the city.
