Winston-Salem State University and North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University are both projecting enrollment funding losses next year.

New budget documents show financial challenges ahead for some universities in the Triad.

University of North Carolina System institutions recently submitted comprehensive budgets for fiscal years 2025 and 2026 to the Board of Governors.

Those highlight the bright spots and challenges these schools are facing, as well as their strategies moving forward.

The documents show enrollment revenue is up for 14 of the system’s 17 institutions.

But that’s not the case for North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University or Winston-Salem State University. They’re both projecting enrollment funding losses next year.

Documents also show that UNC Greensboro is implementing a 2% operational budget cut.

UNCG officials say they plan to reduce “administrative layers and management redundancies.”
