North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is looking to acquire 70 acres of land in Greensboro to expand its farm portfolio.

The University of North Carolina System Board of Governors approved the school’s request to purchase two properties at a meeting this week.

The parcels are located on Old McConnell Loop and JFH Dairy Road, near the university’s swine research unit.

“These properties are required to expand farm and research opportunities, to advance agricultural innovation and to support the university's mission as a land grant institution," said UNC System vice president for finance and capital planning, Katherine Lynn.

The properties will cost around $3 million. They’ll be paid for with federal grant funding aimed at strengthening Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
