Guilford County Manager Michael Halford has retired.

The announcement came after the Guilford County Board of Commissioners held a special meeting on Friday.

"He has helped to support and guide the county's progress toward our strategic goals," Commission Chair Skip Alston said in a statement. "We certainly wish him well."

Halford had served in the position since 2021, and has spent more than two decades working in local government. He also previously served as Guilford County budget director from 2005 to 2020.

Assistant County Manager Victor Isler has been named interim county manager.
