A new segment of a multistate gas pipeline project will run through Triad Park in Kernersville after a narrow vote by Forsyth County commissioners.

Five candidates will compete in the Democratic primary for two seats on the Guilford County Board of Commissioners.

A company codenamed Project McKinley is seeking the incentives for a projected investment of $77 million by the end of 2027.

The decision overturns a denial by the county's planning board earlier this year.

Halford had served in the position since 2021.

The recommended $842 million budget would keep the property tax rate flat, but is at odds with the school district's funding request.

The proposal includes a $2.5 million increase for the school district's operating budget, well below the $44 million requested by the school board.

The county could also see a steep shortage of units over the next few years, according to the study.

The financial incentive package would help the Greensboro-based business expand its footprint while creating at least 26 new, full-time jobs.

The Guilford County Association of Educators led a rally Thursday afternoon advocating for the county board of commissioners to include more money for the public school system in its proposed budget.
