FCSO will make a stop at the Paddison Memorial Branch Library as part of their "FCSO on tour" series.

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a public information session in Kernersville on Thursday.

Community members can ask questions, share concerns and meet staff at the Paddison Memorial Branch Library at 6 p.m.

Sheriff Bobby Kimbrough will discuss the department’s day-to-day operations and introduce new technology.

In terms of newer technology, automated license plate readers or ALPRs aren’t on an official agenda. But law enforcement has been at the center of debate in recent weeks.

Many argue the camera systems violate privacy and civil liberties.

The Winston-Salem Police Department recently released a public statement on the matter, saying it uses ALPRs from the companies Verkada and Axon. Authorities note they’ve helped with criminal investigations.

The Sheriff’s Office will also hold another information session in Rural Hall next month.
