Watauga County Schools is partnering with the Watauga Education Foundation to host a discussion about youth mental health on Tuesday evening.
The event is called “Our Kids, Our Community: Navigating Technology and Mental Health in Our Schools.”
Local pediatrician Dr. Scott St. Clair is the keynote speaker. He’ll talk about the impacts of screen use and social media on student learning and mental health.
St. Clair will be joined by WCS Superintendent Leslie Alexander. She’ll provide an update on recently enacted North Carolina legislation restricting the use of cell phones in schools and how that impacts district policies.
Representatives from local youth and health-focused organizations will also be available to answer questions and provide resources on these topics.
The event will be held in the Watauga High School auditorium from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and is open to the public.
