Wake Forest University’s men’s tennis team won the NCAA National Championship Sunday.
It was a close contest between the Demon Deacons and the second-seeded Texas Christian University Horned Frogs in Waco, Texas. A big serve by DK Suresh proved to be the match winner, sending the Deacons to the title.
They previously won the tennis championship in 2018.
Tony Bresky coached both the 2018 and 2025 teams and sees similarities between them.
“The teams had great chemistry,” he says. “There was just a lot of really, really good people that are very passionate about tennis, very motivated, very driven and just just fun to be around.”
One of the differences between the two title teams: The 2018 squad got to win on their home court in Winston-Salem.
The men’s tennis team is the first Wake Forest national title since women’s golf in 2023. In all, the university has won 11 championships.
