Creative Greensboro, the city's office for arts and culture, has awarded $285,000 to 15 local nonprofits.

The funds come from its Sustaining Creativity: Community Partnership Grants and will support local arts and culture organizations. Some of the groups that won include Carolina Theatre of Greensboro, Creative Aging Network and Music Academy of North Carolina.

Each grant recipient has received between $10,000 and $25,000 to spend by June 30. Four organizations were also given an additional $5,000 bonus for excellence in creative vibrancy or community benefit.

The funding builds upon the $1 million in support the city provides to arts nonprofits in the Greensboro Cultural Center.
