Three events for job seekers scheduled in Winston-Salem this month

Several events designed to help job seekers find work are scheduled for this month in Winston-Salem, and they’re being funded through the American Rescue Plan Act.

Greater Winston-Salem, Inc. received $2.5 million in ARPA funding from Forsyth County in 2022 to create a workforce training system for the area.

The money has so far funded five workforce development events in 2023. This month, the organization will hold three more.

The first, an "Ask a Recruiter" panel event for job seekers, will take place on January 18. The next one, slated for January 25, is set to focus on refugee hiring and creating positive workplace experiences for new immigrants. Panel members include representatives from World Relief, Forsyth Technical Community College, and Goodwill of Northwest North Carolina.

Greater Winston-Salem, Inc. will also offer resume review sessions with local workforce development professionals on January 30. Walk-ins are welcome, but pre-registration guarantees a slot. All three events are free to the public.

The organization says additional ARPA-funded workforce development events will be announced throughout the year.
